The premiere release of chamber music by Giovanni Benedetto Platti. Platti was born in Venice and received a thorough education there. He moved however north (as many of his compatriots did) and settled at the court of Würzburg, where he was highly regarded as an oboist and composer.
The oboe sonatas on this disc are delightful and brilliantly written for the instrument (Platti must have been a real virtuoso..). Played by one of the best oboists of the present time: Alfredo Bernardini, on period instrument (his recording of the Vivaldi Oboe Concertos on Naive got rave reviews).
